Some believe the odds of attaining a perfect bracket are 1 in 35,360,000,000. Others, including DePaul University professor Jeff Bergen are predicting it’s as high as 1 in 128 billion.

In 2010, Chicago-area native and teenager, Alex Hermann  ran the board for the first two rounds of the college hoops tournament. The odds of somone doing that?  One in 13,460,000.

Herrmann, who is autistic, picked all the wild upsets you and I didn’t see happening. UNI over Kansas. Ohio over Georgetown. Cornell over Wisconsin. The Sweet Sixteen turned sour for our intrepid bracket prodigy.

Butler’s upset over Syracuse derailed 17-year-old Alex Herrmann’s perfect run. He did accurately predict three other winners that night — West Virginia over Washington, Kansas State over Xavier and Kentucky over Cornell.
